Awww Vanilla Bean…the best part is what you left behind, that is, the perfect joy inside an extraordinary dog. Thank you Megan for putting pen to paper in tribute to Vanilla Bean’s life.
Oh no! I'm so, so sorry. My heart sank as soon as I saw the first past tense verb. I knew right away what I was reading. I know your heart is hurting too, kiddo, as well as others at St. Luke's. But I believe, like you, that she's on the other side and is waiting to see you all again. And I can't wait to meet her.
There is no pain like that of losing a four-legged family member. I'm so sorry. I hope there is some comfort in knowing that Vanilla Bean will live on in the memory of everyone in that faith community. Thanks be to God.
The parish admin at St Andrew's Honolulu came to work with her lab. People wondered. I solved it by annointing him the cathedral dog which he was until he died. While he was under my protection he watched over the whole operation. I held an outdoor service for him. It was well received.
This breaks my heart! My husband and I were just talking about how we loved petting Vanilla Bean waiting for communion. My daughter loved him too. We are all so sad.
Thanks, Meg, you really captured Bean's essence in a wonderful way. What a loving creature she was, and how well placed in God's kingdom she came to be.

Aww Megan. I'm so sad to hear this news and I'm so glad you captured so many of her stories!
She brought so much joy to so many people - adults and children and everyone in between. A worthy goal for us all.
Thank you for this. I miss her so very much.
Oh dang, I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. So glad he has a place in yours and others hearts.
I needed this. Thank you
Well said. That dog left a strong mark on all of us. Thank you for this.
Dogs are the best of us.
RIP Vanilla Bean. You were God’s Love in doggy form here on earth. Now run free in the glorious world of Heaven.
